Canada’s high priced, high-end homes are enjoying a boom in sales and are going against the trend of slumping real estate.
The significant activity at the high end of the real estate market is not showing any effects from the slowdown and downward trend currently being experienced by the country’s conventional housing market.
A report from the real estate agency Sotheby’s International Realty Canada came to that conclusion. The agency serves people who are looking for luxury homes in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
Homes that are valued at over a $1 million each in Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto ended the year 2012 with significant increase in sales. A good example is that in Calgary, an increase of 20 percent was recorded in the sales of mansions when compared to the previous year of 2011. While the sales in the other cities were not as high, it was still positive.
